The nearly seven hundred years of Kisköre’s past have been preserved by only a few architectural memories.
The oldest building of the village, the Roman Catholic Church, was built in 1777 in the Baroque style,of which the most interesting feature is its spire. Amongst the furnitures of the interior, the pews carved out of oak wood, the Baroque pulpit made of wood, the shell adorned altar chest and the sculptures of the font reflect the character of their age. Apart from the frequent and occassional masses the church is closed (Holy Mass starts at 6:00pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday). In case of group visits the church is open upon request (via ‘phone: +36-36/358-351).
The folk values have been collected in the Village Museum that was opened in 1987 as a result of a collection work taking as many as 10 years. The house, restored and furnished, was built in 1856 as written on the timber wood and provides sifficient space for three rooms. The furniture held in the the so-called ‘clean room’ (reserved for visitors only) and the kitchen may serve as the spot for the life of a farmer family in the middle of the last century. Dishes, tools and textile works are collected in the backroom. The loom stands in the middle section of the room and visitors are even allowed to try it out. The barn gives place for horse carriages and other tools.

Outstanding facility of Kisköre’s history in the Newest Age: the Tisza II. River barrage.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the power plant is considered the largest in the country. Electricity is produced from the regenerating power of the Tisza River via four tubular turbine generators which total capacity is up to 28MW. In conformity with the surrounding environment the power plant produces an average 85-90 million kWh of electric power annually, whilst the turbine generator units are operated 5-6 thousand hours. The electric power produced is 20 kV transmitted to a current grid of 120 kV.
Excavated artifacts from the Avar era are exhibited in the KÖTI-KÖVIZIG Headquarters, where the operation of the facility may be traced on models.
On Thursdays and upon previous reconciliation visiting groups are welcome to see the environment friendly power plant with the guidance of experts.
